Mubadala And Safran Partner To Accelerate Aerospace Innovation And Growth In The UAE

Mubadala Investment Company and Safran, a French aerospace and defence corporation, have partnered to boost aerospace innovation in the UAE. This collaboration was announced at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo. It focuses on maintenance, manufacturing, human capital development, advanced materials, and space. The partnership combines Mubadala's aerospace assets with Safran's expertise to transform the industry landscape.

The partnership aims to enhance Sanad's capabilities and foster new collaborations across Safran's diverse portfolio. Strata Manufacturing will also expand its focus from aircraft structures to engine components, enriching Mubadala's aerospace offerings. This move is expected to open up new opportunities for growth and innovation within the sector.

A key aspect of this partnership is developing local talent through training programs for Emirati engineers and aerospace professionals. By prioritising human capital development, the collaboration seeks to empower the next generation of engineers and professionals in the UAE's aerospace industry.

Advancements in Space and Materials

With space as a primary focus for Mubadala, this agreement unlocks potential in air traffic management, Earth observation, and propulsion systems. It also strengthens capabilities within Strata Solvay Advanced Materials by focusing on advanced materials for engine applications. This solidifies the UAE's position in aerospace materials science.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of UAE Clusters at Mubadala's UAE Investments Platform, expressed satisfaction with the strengthened partnership with Safran. "We are pleased to strengthen our long-term partnership with Safran, a global aerospace leader," he said. He emphasised their commitment to diversifying the UAE's economy by fostering innovation in high-growth sectors.

Philippe Errera from Safran highlighted the significance of this strategic framework agreement. "This strategic framework agreement marks a significant milestone in our partnership with Mubadala," he stated. Errera noted that it contributes to positioning the UAE as a leader in aerospace innovation under the 'Made in the UAE' brand.
