Abu Dhabi To Host Mother Of The Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup This Friday

The anticipation is palpable as Abu Dhabi prepares to host the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup at the Mubarak bin Mohamed Charter School on the 5th and 6th of April, 2024. This event, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF), is set to showcase the immense talent of the Emirates' female athletes across various age groups including U-14, U-16, U-18, and Adults. The tournament offers a unique opportunity for clubs and academies from across the nation to compete for the prestigious title and allows young girls to demonstrate their skills in front of an enthusiastic audience.

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAEJJF, emphasized the tournament's role in empowering Emirati girls and nurturing future champions who could represent the UAE in regional and global competitions. Rafaela Bertolot, a coach at Al Wahda Club, praised the event for its significance in preparing athletes for future competitions. Competitors like Bashayer Al Matrooshi from Al Wahda's adult team and Dana Ali Albreiki from Al-Jazira Club's U-18 team expressed their determination to claim victory in their respective categories, highlighting their commitment to excellence and the strategic vision of the UAEJJF in promoting women's empowerment through sports.

The competition begins with qualifying and elimination rounds, leading up to the final contests and award ceremonies on the following day. Last year's championship saw Baniyas Club winning the Adults' title, with Al Wahda Club and Al Ain securing second and third places respectively. In the U-18 category, Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy took home the top prize, followed by Baniyas Club and Al Ain Club. Baniyas Club also clinched victory in the U-16 category, while Al Jazira Club emerged victorious in the U-14 division.

This year's Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup not only continues to highlight the growing interest and participation in jiu-jitsu among Emirati women but also reinforces the sport's role in fostering discipline, confidence, and a sense of achievement among young athletes.
