Moscow Aims To Double Tourist Numbers By 2030 Amid Rising UAE Visitor Interest

Moscow attracts approximately 26 million tourists annually, according to Bulat Nurmukhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee. In a conversation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) in Dubai, he expressed optimism that this figure will surpass 50 million by 2030. Nurmukhanov highlighted the significant increase in visitors from the UAE and outlined Moscow's strategic plans for future tourism growth.

Nurmukhanov emphasised the importance of the Gulf region, particularly the UAE, as a vital market for Moscow. He stated, "The Gulf region, especially the UAE, is a key market for us, and we are eager to see more Emirati visitors enjoying Moscow as a regular destination." This reflects Moscow's commitment to attracting more Emirati tourists.

Moscow Enhances Tourism Links with UAE

The surge in tourism from the UAE to Moscow has been notable. Nurmukhanov pointed out that over 40,000 tourists from the UAE visited Moscow in the first nine months of last year. This is a significant increase compared to just 5,000 visitors in 2022. He described this growth as phenomenal and stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum.

Moscow's engagement with the Middle East is expanding rapidly. The city has ambitious plans for tourism development and aims to strengthen cultural and economic ties with the GCC region. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors.

A delegation from Moscow, including representatives from Russia's federal government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude towards their Arab partners. Nurmukhanov stated, "We are here to express our gratitude to Arab businesses, Emirati travel operators, and all stakeholders actively working with the Russian market—particularly with Moscow."

Future Tourism Goals

Looking forward, Moscow's tourism strategy aligns with ambitious targets set by city leaders. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has set a goal to double the number of annual tourists visiting Moscow by 2030. This vision underscores Moscow's commitment to becoming a leading global travel destination.

As collaboration between Russia and the UAE strengthens, it is expected that tourism, business, and cultural exchanges will reach new heights in coming years. This partnership is seen as crucial for enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between these regions.

The efforts by Moscow City Tourism Committee aim not only at increasing tourist numbers but also at fostering deeper connections between Russia and its Gulf partners. This approach is expected to yield positive outcomes for both regions in terms of cultural exchange and economic growth.
