Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajić Outlines Plans To Strengthen Economic Ties With UAE
Milojko Spajić, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, emphasised his country's dedication to boosting economic growth and attracting investments. He highlighted the significance of strengthening diplomatic ties with historical allies, especially the UAE. Montenegro has maintained a strong relationship with the UAE since its Yugoslav era, continuing through its independence.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Spajić noted substantial progress in relations between Montenegro and the UAE. He stressed his government's commitment to further enhancing these ties. "Last year, we witnessed strong interest in strengthening ties with the UAE, and we look forward to ensuring the protection of all Emirati business and investment interests in Montenegro, in addition to expanding the scope of future partnerships," he said.

Montenegro has experienced significant economic growth over the past five years. The country's gross domestic product has doubled, marking one of Europe's highest growth rates. This economic surge is expected to continue as Montenegro embarks on a major investment phase in infrastructure over the next seven to eight years.
The development plans include constructing approximately 490 kilometres of highways and restructuring two major international airports. Additionally, there are plans for modernising a key port and rehabilitating and developing the railway network. These projects align with the government's vision to improve internal connectivity and facilitate movement between cities.
Spajić expressed his government's intention to enhance trade cooperation and investments with Emirati companies. The focus is now heavily on economic development and investment opportunities. The Montenegrin government aims to protect Emirati business interests while expanding future partnerships.
The Prime Minister also praised the World Government Summit as "a unique global platform." He reiterated that Montenegro's economy is among the fastest-growing in its region and is well-prepared for global partnerships.
Spajić underscored that these infrastructure projects support tourism growth and attract investments. By enhancing connectivity within Montenegro, they aim to boost both local movement and international interest.
The Prime Minister's remarks reflect Montenegro's strategic approach towards fostering economic ties with key partners like the UAE while focusing on sustainable development within its borders.
