UAE MoHRE Urges Private Sector To Meet Emiratisation Targets By June 30
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a directive to private sector companies with a workforce of 50 or more, emphasizing the importance of meeting their Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2024. These targets involve a 1% increase in the employment of Emiratis in skilled positions, aligning with the Cabinet Resolution aimed at boosting national employment.
With a deadline set for 30th June 2024, the MoHRE has made it clear that from 1st July, it will begin monitoring the compliance of these companies rigorously. The ministry praised those companies that have already met their targets and highlighted the necessity of registering UAE nationals in authorized pension funds and the Wage Protection System (WPS). It also encouraged companies to continue their efforts to achieve and maintain their Emiratisation goals.

For companies lagging behind in meeting their targets, the MoHRE has recommended utilizing the "Nafis" platform. This online resource provides access to data on qualified Emirati professionals across a variety of specializations, facilitating the recruitment of competent nationals.
In its statement, the MoHRE underscored the significance of Emiratisation in the UAE's broader economic and development strategies. "We urge companies to adhere to Emiratisation targets, which are a top priority for the UAE Government, given the role they play in achieving economic growth objectives and the nation's ambitions for the upcoming period, where the primary focus will be on empowering national human capital," MoHRE conveyed.
An alarming revelation from the Ministry's digital and field supervision system identified 1,379 companies attempting to bypass Emiratisation requirements by unlawfully hiring 2,170 UAE citizens from mid-2022 until 16th May 2024. These violations have resulted in fines, downgraded ratings, and, for some, referral to the Public Prosecution. Additionally, financial penalties have been imposed on these companies from the date of the violation, alongside a mandate to take corrective actions.
The MoHRE has also made a call to the public to report any violations related to Emiratisation through its call centre at 600590000 or its smart application. It stressed the importance of Emiratisation targets in enhancing the participation of Emirati citizens in the labor market and their contribution to the nation's economic prosperity, marking it as a crucial national objective.
