MoHESR Partners With SPEA To Enhance University Enrolment And Student Transition Support

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has joined forces with the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) to aid students in moving from school to higher education. This partnership aims to simplify enrolment, improve university admission chances, and promote best practices in student empowerment.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the collaboration's goal to boost students' readiness for higher education and future employment. He stated that this initiative aligns with national priorities for a sustainable economy.

MoHESR and SPEA Enhance University Enrolment

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by MoHESR and SPEA highlights their commitment to providing an integrated learning experience from secondary school through university admission. It sets clear pathways for students to make informed academic choices aligned with their ambitions and national goals.

Under the agreement, both parties will register students in Grades 11 and 12 in the Unified Registration System. They will also enhance schools’ academic guidance, conduct preparatory workshops for students and advisors, assess schools' readiness during this transition, and coordinate with the National Service and Reserve Authority for related admission requirements.

Dr. Muhadditha Alhashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, stressed that the agreement is a strategic step towards building an integrated education system. This system aims to improve educational outcomes and support students' future success by ensuring accurate information is provided during key transitions like university registration.

MoHESR will work with higher education institutions (HEIs) to update admissions data, offer alternatives for students, exchange relevant data, and evaluate programmes to achieve shared goals. This collaboration enhances academic advising, boosts enrolment in the Unified Registration System, and expands university options for Sharjah students.

Supporting a Knowledge-Based Economy

This partnership builds on MoHESR's efforts to implement a redesigned student journey model. The model provides a seamless, integrated education experience that supports the UAE’s aim to create a competitive, sustainable knowledge-based economy.

Dr. Al Awar added: "At MoHESR, we continue to work with educational entities to enhance the student journey and create clear and diverse pathways to ensure all students can pursue higher education."

The agreement reflects SPEA’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with educational entities. It fosters a supportive learning environment that ensures timely information delivery during crucial transitions like university admissions.
