MoHESR And KHDA Collaborate To Support Scholarship Students And Improve Accreditation In Dubai's Higher Education
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has entered into two pivotal agreements with Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). These partnerships aim to support scholarship students and streamline the accreditation of higher education institutions in Dubai. This initiative aligns with the UAE's dedication to enhancing educational quality, keeping pace with global trends, and meeting labour market needs.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasised the significance of collaborating with local authorities. He stated, "We are proud to strengthen our partnership with KHDA to offer best-in-class services for scholarship students and maximise the efficiency of accreditation procedures. These agreements aim to create an environment that attracts prestigious educational institutions from around the world in line with our mission to elevate the UAE’s higher education sector and boost its global competitiveness."

The first agreement aims to enhance academic and administrative services for students under the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Scholarship Programme. This initiative is designed to foster academic excellence, leadership skills, and innovative capabilities among Emirati students. It prepares them to become future leaders across various sectors in Dubai.
Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director-General of KHDA, expressed her views on this collaboration: "This partnership reflects our shared vision for the continued advancement of the higher education system and supports the UAE leadership's commitment to investing in people. We are dedicated to working with MoHESR to reinforce the country’s position as a global hub for innovation and academic excellence and a premier destination for international students and world-class universities."
The second agreement focuses on enhancing cooperation regarding licencing and accreditation processes for higher education institutions in Dubai. This effort aims to solidify the UAE's status as a top international destination for higher education. The signing ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi, attended by senior officials from both parties.
Each year, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Scholarship Programme selects 100 top Emirati graduates from public and private schools nationwide. These students pursue bachelor's degrees in key fields aligned with Dubai's future growth objectives.
Framework for Cooperation
The agreements establish a comprehensive framework for collaboration between MoHESR and KHDA. This includes exchanging data and information, applying high-quality standards in educational processes, and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and academic excellence.
These partnerships align with the UAE's vision of preparing new generations to face global challenges effectively. They aim to drive significant advancements in higher education while supporting sustainable human capital development within the country.
