MoHESR And EGA Join Forces To Enhance Opportunities For Emirati Engineering Students
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has partnered with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to enhance the National Scholarship Programme. This initiative aims to provide Emirati students with improved educational and career opportunities in key engineering fields. The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to nurturing local talent, aligning education with job market needs, and supporting the UAE's economic goals.
Under this agreement, MoHESR will offer scholarships for Emirati students pursuing mechanical and electrical engineering at top global universities. Other specialisations may also be included based on mutual agreement with EGA. Together, they will select appropriate universities and programmes, assess scholarship applications, and choose candidates who meet specific criteria.

The Ministry will handle tuition fees, allowances, and monitor academic progress. It will also coordinate with educational attachés abroad for training and employment matters. Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi from MoHESR stated that this collaboration is crucial for creating integrated academic and career paths for Emirati students in sectors vital to the UAE's economic growth.
Alsaadi emphasised the importance of equipping national talent with quality education in priority disciplines. He noted that aligning academic specialisations with economic sector needs fosters specialised employment culture, helping students succeed in future job markets.
EGA will contribute by offering practical training, professional support, and post-graduation job opportunities. They will also assist in designing career pathways. Abdulnasser bin Kalban of EGA highlighted that empowering UAE National talents is essential for economic growth. Their goal is to develop future leaders in STEM fields to support a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
The partnership includes a joint follow-up mechanism to ensure smooth transitions after graduation. EGA will provide periodic feedback on graduates' readiness and suggest programme improvements. This collaboration reflects a broader strategy by MoHESR to develop qualified Emirati talent for sustainable national growth.
Through ongoing efforts with public and private partners, MoHESR aims to continuously improve the National Scholarship Programme. This initiative supports Emirati students' transition into the workforce, enabling them to contribute actively to achieving national objectives.
