MoHAP Achieves Government Accelerators Award For Innovative Hayat Organ Donation Programme

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has been honoured with the Government Accelerators Award for its National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, known as 'Hayat'. This award, part of the Government Accelerators initiative led by the Prime Minister’s Office, acknowledges 'Hayat's significant societal impact and success in boosting registered organ donors.

"Hayat" serves as a pioneering national model for public health awareness, enhancing community engagement through collaboration between federal and local entities. The initiative promotes innovative solutions to improve government agility in delivering high-quality healthcare services, aligning with the "We the UAE 2031" vision. The programme's first phase launched in Fujairah aimed to increase donor registration by 50% within 100 days.

MoHAP Wins Award for Hayat Programme

The programme exceeded its target by over 20%, thanks to the collaborative efforts of 36 local entities. Awareness workshops at the Majlis of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, along with support from the Fujairah Youth Council and other organisations, were crucial to this success. These efforts highlighted the effectiveness of the Government Accelerators model in achieving societal change.

Following its success in Fujairah, Hayat expanded to cover Northern Emirates. The project's flexibility allowed it to continue delivering impactful results through visual content that documented donor and recipient stories. Strategic government partnerships further amplified its success by integrating behavioural insights and artificial intelligence into intervention design.

These strategies aimed to boost public awareness and donor registration rates, showcasing how behavioural innovation combined with digital transformation can improve public health in the UAE. MoHAP’s achievement reaffirms its dedication to aligning projects with national goals for enhancing quality of life and promoting sustainable health principles.

The Ministry aims to establish the UAE as a leader in global health indicators through innovative initiatives. By advancing life-saving healthcare services like organ transplantation, MoHAP offers renewed hope to patients while strengthening national efforts in this critical field.

Commitment to Sustainable Health Practices

This accomplishment aligns with MoHAP’s strategic objectives to enhance prevention, preparedness, and effective response while fostering innovation in healthcare services. The project reflects MoHAP’s commitment to maximising the value of the Government Accelerators framework through collective action and measurable outcomes.

The Ministry is dedicated to launching priority health initiatives using integrated institutional models that activate strategic partnerships. These efforts aim to raise public awareness about organ donation, a vital humanitarian practice that saves lives.

Transforming Challenges into Opportunities

Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Regulations Sector at MoHAP, stated that winning this award demonstrates the UAE’s health system's efficiency in adopting innovative methods that deliver tangible results swiftly. He emphasised that this achievement showcases MoHAP’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities for developing world-class health policies.

Al Amiri added that MoHAP is striving to entrench organ donation as a progressive humanitarian choice through strategic partnerships and community engagement. He noted that registered donors in the UAE have surpassed 36,000, reflecting growing public awareness of organ donation's noble value aligned with national priorities on human health.
