MoHAP Introduces Unified National Licensing Platform To Enhance Health Professional Standards In The UAE
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has introduced a National Licensing Platform to standardise health professional licensing across the UAE. This unified platform, developed in collaboration with all national health authorities, aims to streamline licensing processes, reducing time and effort for users. It offers comprehensive services for medical professionals, enhancing their experience while improving the efficiency of obtaining licences.
Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, highlighted the platform's significance in transforming the health licensing system. He stated, "We are committed to developing innovative regulatory mechanisms that keep pace with rapid advancements in the health sector while addressing the needs of healthcare providers and practitioners. And by launching the national licensing platform, we look forward to establishing a globally leading health system for a healthier community, underpinned by an integrated, digitally governed system supported by qualified and specialised competencies."

The platform operates as an integrated digital system that simplifies governance of health profession licensing procedures. It facilitates comprehensive registration of health personnel, manages documents and qualifications, applies unified evaluation standards, and issues a standardised professional practice licence valid nationwide. This initiative is part of MoHAP's efforts to enhance competitiveness and flexibility within the health sector.
Alla Mansour, Acting Director of the Licensing and Accreditation Department at MoHAP, emphasised that this platform represents a significant step in digital transformation. She noted that it aligns with global standards in smart health systems and supports the Ministry's commitment to implementing the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme. The initiative aims to create a regulatory environment fostering innovation while ensuring sustainability in health sector services.
The platform targets medical professionals including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, allied specialists, and technical staff. By unifying recruitment policies and employment criteria for doctors nationwide, it reduces disparities in specialised healthcare delivery. This ensures patients receive care aligned with global standards while facilitating seamless transfer of professionals between federal entities and private sectors.
Al Amiri further explained that the platform plays a crucial role in standardising equivalency of medical certificates and experience criteria. It ensures mutual recognition among government health authorities for evaluations. These measures contribute to high-quality healthcare services and strengthen sector competitiveness according to leadership's vision for a sustainable healthcare system.
Enhancing Regulatory Efficiency
This project is integral to improving regulatory processes' efficiency within the health sector. It fosters integration among various entities by unifying licensing standards and simplifying procedures. The platform contributes significantly towards ensuring high-quality services across sectors while supporting leadership's vision for building a comprehensive healthcare system.
Mansour added that this initiative provides comprehensive solutions for customers adopting innovative business models or renewing licences according to international standards. It is part of MoHAP's strategy to establish an integrated health system that organises the sector comprehensively.
The National Licensing Platform marks a major advancement in regulating UAE's healthcare industry through digital transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality while maintaining global standards compliance.
