MoHAP Hosts Innovative Lab To Craft National Health And Wellness Framework In UAE

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recently hosted a groundbreaking workshop at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai, marking a significant step towards establishing a National Framework for Health and Wellness. This initiative is part of MoHAP's commitment to developing a premier health system in the UAE, aiming to elevate the quality of life and position the society among the happiest and healthiest worldwide.

The workshop's primary goal is to create a robust framework that aligns with the UAE’s strategic visions by enhancing living standards and fostering collaborations across various sectors. This effort is also intended to improve the nation's profile in health and wellness, focusing on community groups affected by social, environmental, and economic factors related to health.

UAE's New Health and Wellness Framework

This initiative gains momentum following the UAE's notable achievement at the World Health Assembly, where a draft resolution submitted by the UAE on the quality of healthy life was adopted for the first time. This accomplishment has been praised globally, highlighting the UAE's leadership in promoting health and wellness.

Participants at the innovation lab included Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, alongside representatives from government entities, the private sector, community members, and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The discussions revolved around leveraging innovation labs to achieve the UAE's health and wellness goals, drawing on international best practices.

Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand emphasized that this initiative reflects the directives of the UAE's leadership to prioritize well-being and quality of life. He noted that the framework is integral to MoHAP’s strategic objectives of enhancing health standards and establishing a world-class health system. It also aligns with the National Wellbeing Strategy 2031 and supports the nation's long-term vision for 2071.

Dr. Aisha Al Muhairi, Director of the Wellbeing and Sustainable Development Office at MoHAP, highlighted that improving healthy living is crucial for enhancing overall life quality in Emirati society. The workshop focused on four main areas: lifestyle, physical and psychological quality of life, healthy living in educational and work environments, and access to quality health services.

Dr. Aisha mentioned that ten expert teams from various sectors worked together during the workshop to define the vision and objectives of the national framework. These sessions also aimed at improving life quality across different community segments, including women, children, seniors, youth, and individuals with disabilities.

As the workshop concluded, participants and WHO representatives lauded MoHAP's strategies to boost life quality. They acknowledged MoHAP's efforts towards ensuring health and well-being for all UAE residents and recognized its significant role in global health promotion efforts.
