UAE: MoHAP Earns EFQM Diamond Membership, Enhancing Healthcare Quality And Institutional Excellence
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in the UAE has achieved diamond membership from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). This accolade, the highest awarded by EFQM, highlights MoHAP's dedication to enhancing healthcare quality and institutional excellence. The recognition aligns with the UAE's vision for government excellence, offering strategic benefits that are expected to boost the ministry's performance and support its strategic goals for 2022–2026.
Diamond membership provides MoHAP with access to a wealth of knowledge and advanced tools for measuring and improving performance. It also offers opportunities to participate in global forums with experts in quality and institutional excellence. This membership empowers MoHAP to enhance governance by using EFQM’s comprehensive framework, which promotes transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness across services, operations, and resources.

Saqr Al Hemeiri, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at MoHAP, highlighted that this milestone will further enhance a culture of quality and innovation within the ministry. He stated that the membership provides valuable access to EFQM’s advanced model for improving systems and processes according to global best practices.
Al Hemeiri emphasised: "The ministry is committed to collaborating with international institutions and organisations to exchange knowledge, share expertise, adopt best practices, and carry out benchmarking that helps strengthen our institutional capabilities and enhance the quality of our services in line with the highest global standards." He noted that a roadmap includes specialised training programmes, development projects, and knowledge exchange with global leaders.
The diamond membership also aims to improve customer experience by focusing on real added value that enhances community well-being. The ministry uses an integrated performance system to develop corporate governance, health sustainability, capacity building, healthcare innovation, and data integration.
