MoHAP And Department Of Health Abu Dhabi Formalise Agreement On Health Data Sharing At GITEX Global 2024

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) have formalised a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai. This agreement aims to enhance collaboration in health data exchange across the UAE. Dr. Salem Abdulrahman Al Darmaki and Dr. Rashed Obaid Al Suwaidi signed the MoU, which focuses on integrating statistical efforts and national disease registries.

The MoU sets a framework for the systematic exchange and dissemination of health data, following international standards. It seeks to optimise health records and databases to improve system performance through detailed studies and reports. Additionally, it aims to empower the workforce with skills necessary for effective data management, including collection, documentation, auditing, sharing, and dissemination.

MoHAP Signs MoU on Health Data Sharing

Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama highlighted that this agreement marks a significant advancement in fostering strategic partnerships for health data integration across the UAE. He stated, "This agreement aims to reinforce strategic partnerships and drive integration of statistical work and national disease registries." The initiative is expected to enable informed decision-making based on accurate data while ensuring proactive and interconnected health services.

Dr. Al Olama further noted that leveraging combined expertise in health data management will establish collaborative mechanisms to maximise resources and enhance community health services. He emphasised that secure information exchange is crucial for building a smart, sustainable healthcare system aligned with national priorities.

Aligned with MoHAP's vision, this agreement promotes digital health through strategic policy planning and research driven by data. Dr. Al Olama expressed commitment to advancing proactive healthcare by working closely with DoH Abu Dhabi to implement the MoU effectively, aiming to improve health outcomes and quality of life across the UAE.

Proactive Healthcare Approach

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi from DoH stated their commitment to developing an intelligent health system in Abu Dhabi by harnessing data's potential. She explained that these efforts have significantly improved the emirate’s health infrastructure, shifting focus from reactive to proactive healthcare approaches that prioritise prevention and personalised care.

She added that continued collaboration with MoHAP aims to strengthen cooperation frameworks for comprehensive societal understanding. This joint effort will address future challenges by focusing on community health protection and enhancement.
