MoHAP Completes Comprehensive Heat Exhaustion Awareness Campaign In Sharjah For Workers' Safety

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has partnered with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah and other entities to complete six major awareness stations. This is part of the "Prevention of Heat Exhaustion" campaign, which took place in Sharjah during July and August. The initiative aligns with the midday work ban and supports community-focused efforts to protect workers from high summer temperatures.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Ministry’s Representative Office in Sharjah, highlighted that these awareness stations are crucial for safeguarding worker health. The Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs noted that empowering workers with knowledge about healthy practices is essential. The campaign aims to educate workers on heat exhaustion risks and prevention methods.

MoHAP's Heat Exhaustion Awareness Campaign in Sharjah

The campaign, now in its 14th edition under the slogan "Your Safety is Our Goal," has reached thousands of workers across Sharjah. Activities were conducted at cultural and sports clubs in areas like Sharjah city, Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn. These included lectures on heat exhaustion risks, first aid demonstrations, medical check-ups, and distribution of protective items.

Field visits were also part of the campaign where health professionals educated workers on health procedures. Employers at construction sites and factories received advice on preventive measures. For the first time, new target groups such as cleaners, gas station workers, public park staff, delivery personnel, and female workers were included.

Additional awareness events are ongoing at locations like Sharjah Cement Factory and Al Qasimia University Theatre. The campaign's expansion to include diverse worker groups ensures comprehensive coverage. These groups received vital information on reducing heat exposure and preventing exhaustion.

This initiative is part of national efforts to raise awareness about extreme weather risks. It underscores the importance of proper health practices during peak heat seasons. By educating various worker groups, the campaign aims to safeguard them from heat-related dangers.

The completion of these awareness stations marks a significant step in protecting worker health as part of a broader strategy. The focus remains on empowering workers with knowledge to adopt healthy practices during high-temperature periods.
