Mohammed Bin Rashid Highlights UAE's Commitment At Expo 2025 Osaka Pavilion Visit
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, visited the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. This visit underscores the UAE's dedication to international dialogue and its vision for future progress. Expo 2025 Osaka is the first World Expo since Expo 2020 Dubai, which united 192 countries and attracted over 24 million visitors.
During his visit, His Highness was welcomed by Shihab Ahmed Al Faheem, the UAE Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. His Highness expressed that the UAE's participation in Expo Osaka highlights its commitment to global cooperation. He emphasised that knowledge exchange and innovation are crucial for building a better future.
The Pavilion’s design received praise from His Highness for its exceptional efforts. He extended gratitude to H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for her leadership in overseeing it. The structure combines tradition with innovation, drawing inspiration from the UAE’s date palm and traditional areesh architecture.
The Pavilion features an installation of 90 palm rachis columns reaching up to 16 metres high. It offers an immersive journey titled ‘Earth to Ether,’ showcasing the UAE’s transformation from its early days to its current role in space exploration, sustainable innovation, and healthcare advancements.
The UAE Pavilion highlights three national priorities shaping its future ambitions: space exploration, healthcare innovation, and sustainability. The Emirates Mars Mission (Hope Probe) and Rashid Rover lunar mission exemplify the country's space science advancements while nurturing future pioneers.
In healthcare, the UAE leads in precision medicine and genomics after a transformative journey over five decades. The focus is on dignity and innovation for community well-being. Sustainability efforts include investments in renewable energy and climate resilience for a balanced future.
Historical Ties with Japan
His Highness also explored a section detailing the UAE’s history with World Expos, starting with Expo 1970 Osaka when Abu Dhabi presented its first pavilion before forming the union in 1971. Since then, the UAE has participated in seven Expos, culminating in hosting Expo 2020 Dubai.
The visit highlighted the enduring relationship between the UAE and Japan. Official diplomatic relations began in 1972, but ties date back to the early 20th century. The partnership spans sectors like energy, technology, trade, and culture based on shared values of respect and trust.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
At the end of his visit, His Highness expressed appreciation for all teams involved in showcasing the UAE’s success story at Expo 2025 Osaka. He acknowledged their role in forging new global partnerships supporting the nation’s vision for the future.
Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman accompanied His Highness during this visit as Chairman of Protocols for the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. Shihab Al Faheem remarked on how this high-level visit reaffirms belief in Expos as platforms for cross-cultural dialogue and long-term partnerships.
"His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s visit to the UAE Pavilion is a profound honour," said Shihab Al Faheem.
