Mohammed Bin Rashid Highlights Education's Role During Visit To Al Ibdaa’ Model School, Best School Award Winner

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, recently visited Al Ibdaa’ Model School - Cycle 1 in Al Twar-1, Dubai. The school was honoured with the Best School award during the 8th Arab Reading Challenge. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the crucial role schools play in shaping individuals' character and instilling lifelong values and principles.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of schools as foundational elements in shaping the future. He urged educators to inspire students to read, recognising its potential to open new avenues for excellence. "The journey of progress begins in schools, and through knowledge, we create generations capable of achieving the impossible," he stated.

On Wednesday, Sheikh Mohammed awarded Al Ibdaa’ Model School - Cycle 1 with the title of ‘Best School’ and an AED1 million prize. This recognition was for its significant role in promoting reading among students and enhancing participation in the challenge through various initiatives. The school stood out among 229,000 schools from 50 countries that participated.

The visit by Sheikh Mohammed underscores his dedication to education and support for outstanding institutions. It highlights his commitment to fostering a culture of reading as a means to broaden young minds' horizons and prepare them for future innovation across diverse fields.

Sheikh Mohammed praised Al Ibdaa’ School as a model for educational institutions nationwide. He acknowledged the leadership's efforts in inspiring students to embrace reading, noting that cultivating this habit opens doors to limitless knowledge and scientific discovery. This foundation is essential for intellectual growth in any society aiming for a respected global position.

During his tour of the school, established in 1993 in Dubai’s Al Twar area, Sheikh Mohammed learned about various initiatives encouraging student reading. The school executed 48 projects to secure top honours, with students reading 25,000 books annually. On average, each student read 50 books during the academic year.

Educational Initiatives and Curriculum

The school's management detailed their educational curricula, which include Arabic, English, and Chinese as part of a general education pathway. In addition to winning this year's Arab Reading Challenge, Al Ibdaa’ School has received numerous awards over recent years.

The accolades include the Emirates Development Award in 2020, Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Educational Performance in 2018 under the Outstanding Teacher category, and Khalifa Educational Award in 2017.

Arab Reading Challenge Participation

This year's Arab Reading Challenge is recognised as the world's largest Arabic reading initiative organised by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). It saw unprecedented participation from over 28 million students across more than 229,000 schools in 50 countries, guided by over 154,000 supervisors.

The event reflects a growing emphasis on nurturing reading habits among young learners globally. Such initiatives aim at equipping future generations with essential skills needed for success and innovation across various fields.
