Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Reconstitutes Dubai Media Council With Enhanced Leadership And Mandate

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his role as the Ruler of Dubai, has enacted Law No. (24) of 2025. This law reconstitutes the Board of the Dubai Media Council. The council will be led by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The new law, effective from 15th April 2025, will be published in the Official Gazette. It aligns with Law No. (29) of 2024, which expands the Council's responsibilities and powers. This expansion allows for more effective implementation of strategies and development plans in Dubai’s media sector.

Dubai Media Council Reconstitution Announced

Mona Ghanem Al Marri will take on the roles of Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council. Nehal Badri is appointed as Secretary-General. Other members include Hala Badri, Malek Sultan Al Malek, Aisha Abdulla Miran, Abdullah Humaid Belhoul, Mohammed Ali Lootah, Younes Abdulaziz Al Nasser, Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Issam Abdulrahim Kazim, Mohammed Sulaiman Al Mulla, and Aref Mohammed Amiri.

The restructured board aims to enhance efficiency and agility while keeping pace with global advancements. It focuses on achieving high competitiveness levels by adhering to international standards. The changes are part of a broader strategy to develop Dubai’s media sector.

Decree No. (67) of 2024 plays a crucial role in these developments by transferring the Dubai Film and TV Commission from the Dubai Development Authority to operate under the Media Council. This decree also establishes the Dubai Films and Games Commission under H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's leadership.

The newly formed commission inherits responsibilities from its predecessor, aligning with strategic objectives outlined in recent legislation. This move highlights Dubai’s dedication to advancing its film and video game industries as key components of a knowledge-based economy.
