Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Meets Arab League Secretary-General At World Governments Summit 2026
Regional developments, the situation in the Arab world and the role of the Arab League were the focus when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Ahmed Aboul Gheit during the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai, where both sides discussed ways to strengthen joint Arab action and future government cooperation.
The meeting took place on the second day of the summit, which is being held in Dubai from 3rd to 5th February 2026 under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’. The World Governments Summit brings together leaders, officials, experts and specialists to discuss governance, development and responses to global challenges.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid praised the Arab League’s contribution to closer coordination between member states. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also welcomed Ahmed Aboul Gheit’s participation in the World Governments Summit 2026. The meeting was held in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, alongside several senior officials and ministers who contribute to shaping national and regional policy discussions.

World Governments Summit, Arab League dialogue and UAE development model
Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed appreciation to the UAE and its leadership for convening governments, experts and thinkers from around the world at the World Governments Summit. He said the gathering helps align international efforts to address rising global challenges, including geopolitical tensions, economic pressures, climate change and rapid technological transformation.
He also praised the UAE’s development model, noting its long-term investments across vital sectors. According to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, these policies have kept the UAE among the leading countries in many global competitiveness indices, reflecting a focus on innovation, infrastructure, education and efficient government services.
