Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Introduces Knowledge Horizons Initiative To Enhance Student Learning
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has introduced "Knowledge Horizons," a new initiative aimed at providing Dubai school students with access to five digital databases. This effort seeks to empower students by offering innovative ways to explore global knowledge resources, keeping them aligned with the fast-paced advancements in scientific research and digital transformation.
Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, a Board Member at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, stated that this initiative supports the Library’s mission to enrich society's knowledge and cultivate a lifelong passion for learning. He emphasised that equipping students with essential knowledge and digital skills is crucial for their future success and global competitiveness. "This initiative aligns with the Library’s vision to enrich the knowledge society and foster a lifelong love for learning. As the cornerstone of society’s future, students must be equipped with the knowledge and digital skills needed to thrive. Empowering them is an investment in a generation capable of innovation and global competitiveness."

The databases will be accessible both during visits to the library and through its online platforms for registered members. This flexibility allows users to benefit from digital resources conveniently. Dr. Saeed Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of Policies, Research, and Programmes Sector at KHDA, praised the initiative's role in fostering a culture of reading and learning among young people. He remarked on its importance in promoting continuous learning and enhancing research skills.
Key Databases Available
Among the notable databases available are Nahla wa Nahil, Al Manhal, ProQuest, Dar Al Mandumah, and Media Info. These platforms offer reliable local and international resources that enrich students' academic projects and encourage creativity and innovation. The initiative's first phase targets several public and private schools, benefiting over 8,600 students from institutions like Al Ittihad Private School and GEMS Al Khaleej International School.
Comprehensive Educational Content
The library provides free access to a wide array of resources such as e-books, audiobooks, journals, encyclopedias, videos, theses, and international newspapers. These materials cater to various age groups—from children to advanced academics—enhancing research skills and critical analysis capabilities.
The library also offers eight specialised databases covering diverse fields for visitors and members. These resources aid in organising information effectively while encouraging independent thinking across all ages. By doing so, they prepare students for future challenges while nurturing their ability to use technology wisely.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the library that include other programmes like ‘A World in Your Language’ aimed at promoting reading habits among different demographics. Through these initiatives, the library continues its commitment towards building an informed community ready for tomorrow's challenges without compromising on today's educational needs.
