Mohammed Bin Rashid Directs Development Of GITEX TechCation 2026 As World’s Largest Technology Event
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has instructed that GITEX TechCation 2026 be developed into the world's largest technology and artificial intelligence event. This initiative will be overseen by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The event is set to run from 7-11 December 2026 at Expo City Dubai. It aims to position Dubai as a global hub for innovation, investment, and lifestyle by bringing together leading technology companies, startups, investors, and innovators in a citywide celebration of technology and creativity.
To prepare for this unprecedented event, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) have signed a Strategic Partnership. This collaboration was formalised between Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing under DET, and Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC.
This partnership will leverage DET’s extensive networks in hospitality, tourism, and culture to create immersive experiences that transform Dubai into a live nexus of tech, culture, and tourism. The programme aims to encourage extended stays by international executives and investors to explore the city's dynamic offerings.
Dubai's global allure is central to the concept of GITEX TechCation. The city was ranked No.1 worldwide in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for three consecutive years (2022-2024). Its culinary scene has also gained prominence with 119 restaurants featured in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide.
The event supports the ambitions outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda aims to position Dubai among the top three global cities by 2033 by embedding the world’s largest tech network within its broader tourism landscape.
Enhancing Visitor Experience
Issam Kazim stated that "GITEX has long been more than just a tech show." He emphasised that this new era will elevate its global importance by blending innovation with Dubai's lifestyle. The event aligns with the goals of D33 by enhancing visitor experiences and creating new opportunities for the tech community.
Trixie LohMirmand described GITEX TechCation as a fundamental reconfiguration of global tech events. She highlighted its ethos of ‘Tech Hard, Live Hard,’ which moves beyond conventional halls to harness Dubai’s full energy through immersive citywide activation.
Dubai: A Magnet for Investment
Dubai ranked first globally in Greenfield FDI projects for eight consecutive half-year periods up to H1 2025. It also topped Savills’ Executive Nomad Index, making it attractive for entrepreneurs, tech talent, and investors.
The city's culinary scene includes two restaurants listed among The World's 50 Best Restaurants for 2025. This further cements its status as a sought-after travel destination alongside its technological advancements.
