Mohammed Bin Rashid Launches Region's First Endowment District To Promote Sustainable Philanthropy And Education
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has introduced the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District. This urban development combines modern housing with commercial, healthcare, and education facilities. It is the first endowment district in the region and is part of the strategic investments by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), supported by Azizi Developments.
The project covers 2 million square feet with a total investment of AED4.7 billion. Of this amount, AED330 million comes from a group of investors. The returns from its residential, healthcare, and educational facilities will sustain philanthropic efforts worldwide, focusing on education and healthcare initiatives.
During the launch event, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the project's key details and plans. He emphasised that the district aims to serve as an urban model embodying their vision of endowments as tools for multiplying giving's value and leaving a lasting impact on lives. "Today, we launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District as a leading endowment project that brings together healthcare, education, and housing facilities," he stated.
Sheikh Mohammed further highlighted that this new endowment project reflects the UAE’s ethos of compassion and generosity. It stands as a symbol of solidarity within society and exemplifies their vision of charitable work as a strategic driver for sustainable development. The project sets a new standard for sustainable philanthropy in the region.
The master plan includes a 250-bed hospital capable of handling over 90,000 cases annually. It will feature dedicated housing for medical staff, a medical college, and two schools accommodating 5,000 students across all educational stages. Additionally, there are 25 endowment buildings with over 2,000 diverse residential units catering to different lifestyles.
The district will host more than 12,000 residents and visitors daily through its vibrant community setup. Integrated infrastructure includes open green areas, a boulevard, a mosque, and thousands of parking spaces to ensure comfort and sustainability.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi noted that this launch reflects Sheikh Mohammed's vision to redefine charitable work by centering it on endowment investment to drive development across life aspects. Mirwais Azizi expressed pride in being part of this pioneering project bearing Sheikh Mohammed's name. "We are proud to be part of this pioneering endowment project that bears the name of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," he said. Azizi Developments contributed AED3 billion to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign—the largest private-sector donation in UAE history.
