Mohammed Bin Rashid Endowment District Board Discusses Executive Plans For Pioneering Urban Development Project
The Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to be a pioneering endowment model in the region. The Board of Trustees recently convened for its inaugural meeting, attended by Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). This project is supported by Azizi Developments and is part of MBRGI's strategic investment.
Mohammad Al Gergawi highlighted that MBRGI is dedicated to launching significant endowment projects aligned with its humanitarian goals. These initiatives aim to foster a culture of giving and positive impact, as envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The ultimate objective is to provide exemplary healthcare, education, and a high quality of life for communities.

Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, emphasised that the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District symbolises the UAE’s goodwill and hope to the world. It offers essential support to those needing healthcare and education. He noted that this project reflects the shared vision of MBRGI and Azizi Developments for sustainable giving and their commitment to uplifting communities.
The Board of Trustees expressed deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his invaluable trust and continuous support for charitable endeavours. They pledged to implement his vision for the district, aiming to establish it as a leading endowment model promoting sustainable giving while supporting global education and healthcare sectors.
The meeting also addressed executive plans for this flagship urban destination. It integrates modern housing, commercial facilities, healthcare, and education into one development with a total investment of AED4.7 billion. The project spans 2 million square feet and includes a state-of-the-art 250-bed hospital, a medical college, two schools accommodating 5,000 students combined, and 25 endowment buildings with over 2,000 residential units.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the district, stated that "The Endowment District embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to leverage endowments as a strategic tool that maximises the sustainable impact of giving." He added that this innovative model blends urban development with humanitarian purposes.
Commitment to Excellence
The Board stressed executing the project according to international standards in infrastructure, sustainability, and operational efficiency. This approach aims to generate optimal investment returns. The district will host over 12,000 residents and visitors daily upon completion.
Al Tayer further explained that the Board would work towards promoting innovative developmental endowments. They plan to strengthen partnerships and establish rigorous systems for managing investments. This ensures sustainable funding streams for global education and healthcare initiatives while reinforcing the UAE's status as a hub for sustainable endowments.
Al Gergawi remarked on how this district accelerates MBRGI’s strategic plans by expanding its global reach through sustainable investment returns from this pioneering project. "The Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District is a significant addition to MBRGI’s portfolio," he said.
