Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Reveals MBRGI Year In Review Report For 2024

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled the 2024 Year In Review report for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). The organisation spent AED2.2 billion on projects that improved the lives of 149 million people across 118 countries.

The announcement took place at a ceremony in Dubai World Trade Centre, attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and other dignitaries. The event highlighted MBRGI's achievements in 2024 and previous years, including updates on ongoing campaigns and recognition of key contributors.

Humanitarian aid remains a core focus for MBRGI. In 2024, over AED944 million was allocated to aid efforts, impacting more than 37 million people globally. Key initiatives included the launch of an AED800 million endowment tower supporting the 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign to combat hunger worldwide.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, MBRGI announced collaborations with UN agencies to enhance food security. This included AED30 million for UNICEF and AED43 million for the World Food Programme to support vulnerable populations in Gaza and Lebanon.

MBRGI invested over AED210 million in healthcare initiatives in 2024, benefiting 6.5 million people globally. Notable projects included a partnership with WHO to provide essential medical supplies to Gaza's health sector and support for the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Cairo.

Education is another priority area for MBRGI. In 2024, more than AED599 million was spent on educational initiatives impacting over 100 million people worldwide. The 'Mothers' Endowment' campaign established a AED1 billion fund to support global education efforts.

Innovation and Community Empowerment

MBRGI aims to position Dubai as a global hub for innovation and technology. In 2024, approximately AED278 million was invested in future innovation and entrepreneurship projects, benefiting over 1.3 million people. The Museum of the Future attracted visitors from around the world since its opening.

The foundation also focuses on community empowerment, investing AED202 million in related projects that impacted over 3.5 million people in 2024. The Arab Hope Makers initiative awarded individuals for their positive societal contributions during its closing ceremony attended by thousands.

Acknowledging Contributions

During the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed honoured Mirwais Azizi with the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Order for Philanthropy' for his significant contribution to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign. Other major contributors were also recognised with medals for their philanthropic efforts.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasised that since its inception in 2015, MBRGI has evolved beyond traditional charity work to focus on sustainable development and empowerment of communities through innovative solutions addressing root causes like poverty and disease.

Sustaining Impactful Change

Mohammad Al Gergawi highlighted that under Sheikh Mohammed's vision, MBRGI has become a model for sustainable philanthropy aimed at making lasting differences globally through education, health, community empowerment, and youth support programmes.

The foundation reached approximately 149 million people across 118 countries in 2024 through projects valued at over AED2.2 billion—an increase from previous years—demonstrating its expanding impact on global humanitarian efforts.

The Year In Review report showcases how MBRGI's diverse initiatives have alleviated suffering among vulnerable populations while fostering comprehensive change aligned with its mission to create hope and build a safer future worldwide.
