Mohamed Bin Zayed University Hosts Forum On Diversity And Coexistence For A Common Future

Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities recently hosted the "Diversity and Coexistence – Roadmap for a Common Future" forum. This event, in collaboration with the Coptic Evangelical Organisation, gathered intellectuals, academics, and experts worldwide. The focus was on strategies to enhance cultural understanding and foster cohesive, tolerant societies.

The forum featured two main scientific sessions. The first session showcased successful coexistence models, highlighting initiatives led by institutions and youth that promote pluralism and mutual understanding. It stressed the importance of religious and academic institutions in initiating and maintaining these efforts.

The second session explored education's transformative role in fostering dialogue, cultural awareness, and coexistence. Experts discussed how education can build societies that embrace diversity. They also examined challenges like training educators and updating curricula to reflect changing cultural landscapes.

Dr. Najla Al-Naqbi, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the university, underscored the forum's importance. She stated that creating cohesive societies requires collaboration among academic, religious, and civil society institutions to promote mutual understanding and dialogue.

A significant outcome of the forum was a cooperation agreement between Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities and the Coptic Evangelical Organisation. This agreement aims to exchange academic expertise, develop educational programmes, and launch joint research initiatives.

The agreement also includes plans for joint academic research, publication exchanges, and organising future cultural and academic events. Dr. Najla Al-Naqbi signed on behalf of the university, while Dr. Andrea Zaki represented the Coptic Evangelical Organisation.

By hosting such forums and signing agreements, Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities continues its commitment to advancing tolerance and coexistence values within the UAE's cultural landscape.
