Mohamed Bin Zayed Foundation For Humanity Launched On Zayed Humanitarian Day
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has examined the vision and strategy of the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity. This new foundation aims to enhance human potential, support global health priorities, and expand opportunities for vulnerable communities worldwide. It will focus on sustainable efforts in global health and inclusive development by investing in innovative solutions that empower individuals and communities.
The foundation will operate independently with legal, financial, and administrative autonomy to effectively achieve its goals. It will collaborate with national institutions to advance sustainable development objectives, including those related to global health. The foundation's primary focus areas include implementing humanitarian initiatives and promoting philanthropy at both local and international levels.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted that the foundation will play a crucial role in advancing the UAE President’s vision of empowering individuals and communities. It aims to support global development and provide relief to those affected by crises worldwide. The foundation will implement impactful programmes that bring sustainable benefits to vulnerable communities, addressing social and economic challenges.
The establishment of the foundation coincides with Zayed Humanitarian Day, observed annually on the 19th of Ramadan. This day commemorates the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in humanitarian work. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan had earlier issued a decree establishing this foundation as a continuation of Sheikh Zayed's enduring humanitarian legacy.
During a meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, His Highness received a delegation from the foundation. Present were His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, and Chair of Erth Zayed Philanthropies. The UAE President was briefed on the foundation’s mission rooted in his commitment to supporting charitable initiatives.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated, "The Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity reflects the UAE’s determination to build a more equitable world by catalysing innovation, seeking out new solutions, and building partnerships that can uplift and enable communities worldwide." The foundation represents a further commitment to delivering sustainable change where it is needed most.
Over the next five years, the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity plans to reach over 500 million people across more than 50 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The foundation will build on existing charitable initiatives led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to empower communities, ensure access to healthcare, and promote economic growth.
The foundation will also advance successful work from Reaching the Last Mile, which previously managed global health philanthropy under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This includes commitments towards ending polio, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases now integrated into its broader mission.
The new foundation operates under Erth Zayed Philanthropies' umbrella, overseeing strategic direction for charitable efforts linked with national leadership. It supervises various philanthropic institutions across sectors aiming to create meaningful impacts in communities most in need worldwide.
