Ministry Of Sports Highlights Achievements In Service Development And Bureaucracy Reduction
The Ministry of Sports recently highlighted its significant strides in simplifying government services and reducing bureaucracy. This was during the third periodic meeting of the second phase of the Zero Bureaucracy Programme at the United Arab Emirates University. The event aimed to assess progress across various government bodies.
Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, attended alongside Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, and Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector. Representatives from the Emirates Government Service Excellence Programme and senior sports sector officials were also present.

Al Falasi emphasised that the Ministry's strategy aligns with leadership goals focusing on efficiency, agility, and innovation. He stated that removing bureaucracy is more than an administrative change; it represents a cultural shift in institutional performance and service delivery. The Ministry has formed a dedicated committee and seven task forces to restructure services and streamline procedures.
The Ministry launched the Zero Bureaucracy Charter to formalise its dedication to simpler, faster, and more transparent processes. This initiative has led to measurable improvements in efficiency and user satisfaction. Among these achievements is the complete automation of sports leave services, which reduced processing time to zero.
The automation efforts have resulted in a 100 percent completion rate for sports leave services. Procedural steps were cut by 33 percent, website visits halved, and document requirements eliminated. Consequently, customer satisfaction with these services is expected to reach 91 percent by 2025.
Additionally, the Ministry introduced the Talent Committee Platform. This digital system employs artificial intelligence to identify, assess, and connect Emirati athletes with sports federations and clubs. It supports national objectives by nurturing athletic talent for global competition.
Workshops and Innovation Challenges
To further support the Zero Bureaucracy approach, the Ministry organises service development workshops, innovation challenges, and recognition programmes. These initiatives embed this culture across all sports entities in the UAE. They aim to enhance overall efficiency within the country's sports ecosystem.
The Ministry's efforts reflect a commitment to transforming service delivery through innovative solutions. By fostering a culture of efficiency and transparency, they aim to improve user satisfaction significantly while supporting national goals in sports development.
