Ministry Of Islamic Affairs Celebrates Winners Of Second Quran Competition In Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance recently celebrated the winners of the Second Holy Quran Memorization Competition in Sri Lanka. The event was attended by notable officials and diplomats. Sheikh Saud Al-Ghamdi, representing Minister Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, presented awards to the winners. Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Colombo, Khalid Al-Qahtani, expressed gratitude for the Kingdom's support of Islamic initiatives.

Ambassador Al-Qahtani emphasised the significant participation in the competition, with nearly 1,900 contestants from across Sri Lanka. This turnout highlighted the event's importance and demonstrated the dedication of Islamic organisations to engage with top Quran memorizers from various age groups. The ambassador praised Saudi leadership for their unwavering commitment to supporting such initiatives.

Winners of Quran Competition Honoured in Sri Lanka

Hiniduma Senevi, Sri Lanka's Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, acknowledged Saudi Arabia's longstanding emphasis on the Quran. In his speech at the ceremony, he commended the Kingdom for regularly organising Quran memorization competitions both domestically and internationally. These events offer prizes worth millions of riyals and reflect their role in promoting Islamic culture among Muslims.

Sheikh Saud Al-Ghamdi noted that this competition is part of Saudi Arabia's continuous efforts to spread the message of the Noble Quran. The initiative aims to promote values of moderation and instil an Islamic identity among Muslims worldwide. The Kingdom remains committed to these objectives through various programs and competitions.

The ceremony concluded with 24 winners being honoured across four categories. They received prizes totalling more than SAR200,000. Attendees also took commemorative photographs to mark this special occasion. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including members from Sri Lanka's Parliament and ambassadors from Arab and Islamic countries.

Sri Lanka's Minister Senevi extended his appreciation to Saudi leadership for supporting this competition. He highlighted how these endeavours reflect the significance of promoting Islamic culture through such events. The minister praised Saudi Arabia for its consistent efforts in organising these competitions globally.
