Ministry Of Finance Workshop Strengthens Crisis Management And Forecasting Skills For Government Officials

The Ministry of Finance recently organised a workshop in Dubai focused on crisis management and forecasting. This event gathered senior government officials and experts to discuss best practices in emergency preparedness and strategic planning. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, along with assistant undersecretaries, department directors, and representatives from the American University of Sharjah, attended the workshop.

The workshop aimed to improve national teams' abilities to respond effectively and plan proactively for future challenges. This aligns with the country's goal to develop a flexible government that can adapt to changing circumstances. The event highlighted international practices in crisis management and forecasting.

Younis Haji AlKhoori stressed that the workshop is part of the Ministry's dedication to enhancing institutional readiness. He noted that investing in capacity building for crisis management and forecasting is crucial for maintaining business continuity and improving government performance amid regional and global challenges.

"We are moving forward with our efforts to instill a culture of readiness within the organisational work environment, empowering our staff to make swift, well-thought-out decisions during crises and ensuring sustainable service delivery," stated AlKhoori.

The workshop included three main sessions. The first session focused on understanding crisis management, covering topics like types of crises, response strategies, crisis communication, risk assessment techniques, and scenario analysis. Participants engaged in interactive discussions with specialists and academics leading the sessions.

The second session explored advanced forecasting methods for proactive crisis management. It emphasised their role in reducing risks. The third session was dedicated to practical applications and simulated responses. Participants tested their decision-making skills under pressure while applying forecasting and risk management tools.

Expert Contributions

Professor Anis Samet from the American University of Sharjah led the workshop. He is a recognised expert in risk management, sustainable finance, and corporate governance. With extensive academic and professional experience, he has served as a risk management consultant for several prestigious international organisations.

Participants exchanged insights and experiences aimed at enhancing government efficiency to meet future challenges. Professor Samet's research has been widely published in leading international academic journals, adding depth to the discussions.

This initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to fostering a culture of readiness within governmental operations. By equipping staff with necessary skills for effective decision-making during crises, it ensures continuous service delivery even in challenging times.
