UAE Ministry Of Energy And Infrastructure Hosts Retreat To Develop 2027–2029 Plan For Sustainable Growth

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) in Dubai recently held a strategic retreat to develop its sixth strategic plan for 2027–2029. This event aimed to set future directions in energy, petroleum, mining, water, roads, transport, government buildings, and housing. The goal is to enhance national integration among these sectors and align with the "We the UAE 2031" vision for sustainable development.

During the retreat, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, highlighted the importance of this strategic gathering. He stated that it marks a crucial step in unifying visions and fostering a culture of integrated institutional work. Al Mazrouei stressed the need for a flexible and innovative approach to strategic planning to prepare the Ministry for future challenges.

Strategic Retreat Shapes UAE s Future Plans

Al Mazrouei emphasised that the new strategy will focus on turning ideas into actionable plans and projects. These initiatives aim to boost the UAE's competitiveness and strengthen its leadership regionally and globally. The Ministry will continue developing an integrated energy system that promotes energy diversification and supports climate neutrality goals.

The retreat included various sessions featuring presentations that provided insights into the Ministry’s future directions. Dr. Mohamed Qasem from Dubai Future Academy discussed artificial intelligence's role in enhancing government systems. He highlighted opportunities for using modern technologies to improve service quality and institutional performance efficiency.

Haitham Al Rais from the Prime Minister’s Office presented new directions for strategic planning in the federal government. He focused on transitioning from traditional strategic planning to strategic intelligence due to global changes requiring swift adaptation by government entities.

Laila Al Balushi, Director of Strategy and Future Department at MoEI, outlined achievements under the current strategic plan. She detailed objectives for the upcoming 2027–2029 plan, aligning them with "We the UAE 2031" vision targets. The plan's main pillars were discussed along with mechanisms for achieving these goals.

The retreat also featured discussions on key strategic pillars shaping future work at MoEI. Participants explored ways to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption and digital twins in planning and implementation processes. Enhancing institutional performance, resource efficiency, transparency, and accountability were also key topics.

Al Mazrouei honoured Eng. Hassan Al Mansouri with the Ministry’s Medal of Honour during this event. This recognition was for his dedicated efforts as Under-Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at MoEI. His contributions significantly advanced this vital sector while enhancing government performance.

The teams behind transformational projects were also honoured for their innovative initiatives supporting MoEI's future direction. Their efforts contributed significantly towards implementing projects aligned with national priorities.

The retreat concluded with developing a comprehensive vision for future transformational projects forming part of MoEI’s Strategic Plan 2027–2029 implementation foundation. Specialised programmes designed during discussions aim at fostering innovation culture across MoEI while promoting institutional creativity within its operations framework.
