UAE Ministry Of Defence Strengthens Armed Forces With First Batch Of French Rafale Fighter Jets
The Ministry of Defence has taken delivery of the first set of 80 Rafale fighter jets, marking a pivotal step in bolstering the nation's military strength. This acquisition is part of a "historic deal" with France's Dassault Aviation, highlighting the strong strategic ties between the UAE and France. The move aims to modernise defence capabilities, addressing both regional and global security challenges.
During an official ceremony in Paris, Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, received the jets alongside senior officials and French dignitaries. Al Mazrouei noted that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE Armed Forces have become one of the most capable in the region.

The Rafale jets are equipped with cutting-edge technologies that allow them to perform various missions such as reconnaissance and precision attacks on land and sea targets. Major General Rashed Mohammed Al Shamsi, Commander of the UAE Air Force, stated these aircraft significantly enhance the air force's capabilities.
Al Shamsi highlighted that acquiring these jets supports building advanced armed forces and developing air defence systems. He also mentioned a comprehensive training programme included in the agreement to ensure pilots and technicians reach high readiness levels.
The €16.6 billion Rafale deal is among the most significant defence agreements between the UAE and France. It involves producing 80 state-of-the-art fighter jets equipped with advanced defence technologies. This partnership underscores a deep strategic relationship between both nations.
Al Mazrouei emphasised that their strategy focuses on acquiring advanced weaponry aligned with modern warfare's evolving nature. This approach enhances combat efficiency within the national defence system, ensuring preparedness for future challenges.
