Ministry Of Culture Showcases Emirati Identity At Sharjah International Book Fair 2025
The Ministry of Culture is actively participating in the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair, which takes place from 5th to 17th November at Expo Centre Sharjah. This event features a rich cultural programme that celebrates Emirati identity and supports creative talent. The Ministry's involvement includes daily sessions and seminars with renowned writers and cultural figures.
One of the highlights is the Youth and Cultural Identity Hackathon, scheduled from 7th to 9th November. This event brings together young Emiratis and experts to collaborate on innovative projects that promote Emirati heritage. Additionally, the Ministry is presenting an Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation Exhibition enhanced by virtual reality technology.

The fair also features a youth corner organised with the Federal Youth Authority. This space encourages dialogue and debate among young participants, fostering a spirit of engagement and learning. For children, the We Read, Draw, and Dream Together programme offers interactive workshops, reading sessions, and calligraphy activities designed to nurture creativity and imagination.
Mubarak Al Nakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, emphasised the significance of this participation. He stated that it underscores the fair’s importance as one of the Arab world’s leading literary events, promoting knowledge exchange and supporting the publishing industry. "The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to develop cultural and creative industries," he noted.
The Ministry is also showcasing rare Arabic books and poetry by UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Notable works include Falconry as a Sport: Our Arab Heritage, Graces from Al Dhafra, and Pearl for the People. These pieces reflect his vision and legacy in preserving cultural heritage.
Book signing sessions are being held for recipients of the Culture and Creativity Grants. These sessions provide emerging authors with a platform to present their works to a wider audience. The Ministry’s pavilion features key national initiatives supporting the creative community.
Supporting Creative Talent
The pavilion includes initiatives like the National Grant Program for Culture and Creativity, which supported 43 Emirati creatives in 2024. Among these published works are Qasr Al Zabaa by Mohammed Al Habsi, Under the Ghaf Tree by Sara Al Mehairi, and The Journey of Falah and Reem by Fatima Al Alili.
Additionally, visitors can learn about advisory services on Creative Sabbatical Leave and Golden Visa eligibility at the pavilion. The National Framework for Emirati Cultural Schools Activities is also highlighted as part of efforts to support creative talent development.
This comprehensive participation reflects a commitment to fostering an innovative society grounded in knowledge. By celebrating Emirati culture through various programmes at this fair, the Ministry aims to inspire future generations while promoting cultural exchange on an international stage.
