Ministerial Committee Discusses Gaza Developments At Arab-Islamic Summit Meeting In Madrid
An expanded meeting took place in Madrid, Spain, involving the Ministerial Committee from the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza developments. Chaired by Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the meeting included key figures such as Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi and Egypt's Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty. Discussions centred on Gaza and West Bank developments and international efforts to end the conflict.
The committee members highlighted the importance of joint cooperation to ensure the success of an upcoming high-level international conference. This event, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, will focus on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and implementing a two-state solution. The conference is scheduled for June at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The committee praised efforts by the Madrid Group and European countries in supporting peace initiatives. They stressed the need for clear commitments and tangible political, economic, and security support to achieve lasting peace. The members reaffirmed their commitment to implementing a two-state solution based on international resolutions.
Efforts to secure hostages' release through Qatari-Egyptian-American mediation were also acknowledged. The committee emphasized ending Gaza's blockade, opening crossings unconditionally, and ensuring continuous humanitarian aid delivery. These steps are crucial for addressing the population's needs effectively.
The committee condemned repeated violations by Israeli authorities against civilians in Gaza. They stressed confronting all breaches of international law and humanitarian law. Additionally, they supported early recovery efforts and Gaza's reconstruction under the Arab Reconstruction Plan adopted at Cairo's Extraordinary Arab Summit.
Support was expressed for an international conference Egypt plans to host in Cairo with Palestinian government cooperation and UN involvement. This conference aims to further Gaza Strip reconstruction efforts, aligning with broader regional stability goals.
Commitment to Palestinian Aspirations
The committee praised reforms initiated by the Palestinian government, reaffirming steadfast support for advancing Palestinian interests, aspirations, security, stability, and prosperity. They reiterated their commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
