Saudi Minister Of Municipalities Highlights Over 11,000 Development Projects With US Partnerships For Smart Cities

Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant urban transformation, driven by Vision 2030. Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majed Al-Hogail, highlighted this change at the Saudi-US Investment Forum 2025. He revealed that the ministry is spearheading over 11,000 development projects across more than 300 municipalities. These initiatives focus on housing, infrastructure, and enhancing quality of life through collaborations with American partners.

Minister Al-Hogail stressed the importance of reshaping Saudi cities into sustainable smart cities to accommodate future population growth. The transformation involves not just physical infrastructure but also improving operational efficiency and service quality. This approach aims to make cities more attractive and livable for residents in the coming years.

Saudi Arabia's Urban Transformation Through US Partnerships

Homeownership rates have seen a notable increase since the launch of Vision 2030. They have risen from 47% to over 60%, according to Minister Al-Hogail. The ministry aims to further boost this figure to 70% by 2030. This progress is attributed to effective partnerships with the private sector, empowering citizens to purchase their first homes.

The Kingdom is committed to fostering global partnerships, particularly with American investors. Minister Al-Hogail extended an open invitation for them to explore opportunities in Saudi Arabia's real estate sector. This includes areas like development, facility management, smart city construction, and urban land reuse.

The minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia seeks not only financial investment but also strategic partnerships. These partners are expected to contribute innovative solutions for sustainable urban development in Saudi cities. The goal is to design future-ready cities that meet the needs of their growing populations.

Collaborations with Local and International Partners

Currently, the ministry is redeveloping three major cities in collaboration with over 80 local private sector partners. There are plans to expand these partnerships internationally, especially with American companies known for their global expertise. This expansion aims to bring diverse perspectives and solutions to Saudi Arabia's urban development efforts.

The Kingdom's focus on strategic partnerships reflects its vision for sustainable urban growth. By involving both local and international stakeholders, Saudi Arabia aims to create vibrant cities that offer high-quality living standards for all residents.
