MGX, Bpifrance, Mistral AI And NVIDIA Collaborate To Establish Europe’s Largest AI Campus In France

During the Choose France Summit in Versailles, a significant announcement was made regarding the creation of Europe's largest AI Campus. This initiative is a collaboration between Bpifrance, MGX, Mistral AI, and NVIDIA. The campus will be situated in the Paris region and aims to reach a capacity of 1.4 GW. This project is part of broader AI cooperation efforts endorsed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The AI Campus will be strategically located within Europe's leading economic zone. It represents a crucial step towards establishing sovereign, sustainable, and globally competitive AI infrastructure across Europe. The signing ceremony for this joint venture was attended by Eric Lombard, French Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, along with Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority.

Europe's Largest AI Campus Launched in France

This new venture aims to create Europe's first dedicated intelligence hub that supports the full AI lifecycle. From model training to deployment of generative and applied AI systems, the campus will offer advanced compute infrastructure and facilities for experimentation. It will also provide real-world development environments integrated with France's research and innovation ecosystems.

The open platform at the campus will feature exascale-class computing capabilities. It will include sovereign cloud integration and low-carbon hyperscale data centres optimised for AI applications. This infrastructure is designed to support large-scale AI adoption in sectors such as healthcare, mobility, energy, finance, and manufacturing.

A robust ecosystem of public and private partners from government, technology, industry, and academia will support the campus. Confirmed partners include Bouygues, EDF Group, École Polytechnique (a member of Institut Polytechnique de Paris), RTE, and Sipartech. These organisations bring expertise in construction, energy transition, academic excellence in science and engineering, electricity transmission operations, and high-capacity fibre infrastructure.

Nicolas Dufourcq from Bpifrance expressed pride in co-founding this European AI Campus with MGX. He stated that this initiative highlights France's scientific excellence and its ability to deliver advanced infrastructure while attracting top talent. "The Campus strengthens our technological sovereignty," he said.

Driving Technological Leadership

Ahmed Yahia of MGX emphasised France's ambition to lead in the new AI era. He noted that open infrastructure is key to unlocking AI's societal impact across various fields like science and education. Arthur Mensch from Mistral AI highlighted how this initiative unites expertise across the entire AI value chain to foster sustainable ecosystems.

Jensen Huang from NVIDIA described the campus as transformational for France's science, education, and industry sectors. Laura Chaubard from École Polytechnique mentioned their role in advancing research at the campus while training future AI leaders through international collaboration.

Construction Timeline

The construction of this ambitious project is set to commence in late 2026 with operations expected by 2028. The campus aims to accelerate breakthroughs across multiple domains while enhancing Europe's digital sovereignty through innovative solutions.

This collaborative effort marks a pivotal moment for Europe’s technological landscape by establishing an influential hub dedicated entirely to artificial intelligence advancement on a global scale.
