Meydan Free Zone Hosts Corporate Tax And Compliance Summit For UAE Free Zones

Meydan Free Zone organised the "Corporate Tax and Compliance Summit" on 8th and 9th October 2024. The event gathered experts and industry leaders to discuss vital corporate tax and compliance issues relevant to UAE Free Zones. With the theme "All Questions Answered," it provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking among participants.

The summit's first day began with two sessions. The initial session focused on Corporate Tax, moderated by Shiraz Khan from Al Tamimi Group. Sadeq Khatib from the Dubai Department of Finance spoke about Corporate Tax Guidelines for Free Zones. Liam Purcell from Aurifer discussed Corporate Tax Technicalities in Free Zones, while Nirav Shah from FAME Advisory shared insights into corporate tax practices.

Following this, a Compliance session took place, also led by Shiraz Khan. Khalid Suhail Alzaabi, Senior Specialist-National Risk Section, addressed key compliance challenges. Sachith Shkarbatyuk from KPMG discussed compliance frameworks, and Alia Noor from Ahmed Alagbari presented "Sherlock’s Holmes Greatest Case: Mastering UAE Compliances."

On the second day, the summit continued with another corporate tax session. Sadeq Khatib and Liam Purcell offered detailed insights into essential tax topics. The subsequent session on tax compliance featured Shamseer Purayil, Anti-Money Laundering Specialist at the Ministry of Economy, alongside Sachith Shkarbatyuk. They explored recent regulatory developments and best practices for effective tax compliance.

Attendees actively participated in Q&A sessions after each presentation. This engagement facilitated dynamic discussions and enhanced understanding of complex topics covered during the summit.

Exhibition Highlights

An exhibition was also part of the summit, showcasing leading service providers in corporate tax and compliance. This segment saw impressive participation and engagement from attendees, further enriching the event's offerings.
