Ramadan Weather Readiness Strengthened As Meteorology Center Prepares For Ramadan Season
The National Center for Meteorology has completed a detailed operational plan for Ramadan 1447 AH, focusing on Makkah and Madinah, especially the Two Holy Mosques and the main access roads. The plan aims to provide round-the-clock weather data, improve monitoring of changing conditions, and predict possible weather events to support authorities and protect visitors’ safety and comfort.
During Ramadan 1447 AH, the National Center for Meteorology will issue dedicated weather bulletins for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. Forecasts will appear on roadside guidance boards along routes to both cities. Pilgrims and residents can also obtain real-time information and ten-day extended forecasts through the "Anwaa" application and linked services such as "Nusuk" and "Tawakkalna."

The National Center for Meteorology explained that operational and technical readiness now covers Makkah, Madinah, and surrounding areas with more accurate geographical monitoring. Modern meteorological technologies and specialised programs support continuous observation. This coverage includes the Two Holy Mosques and the network of roads connecting them, ensuring data reaches decision-makers and field teams without interruption throughout the holy month.
The plan extends to airports, border crossings, and highways leading to Makkah and Madinah. Enhanced performance at National Center for Meteorology observatories in the Kingdom’s airports is intended to support aviation safety. These upgrades help manage the expected increase in air traffic during Ramadan 1447 AH, allowing airlines and airport authorities to respond quickly to any weather-related challenges.
NCM Chief Executive Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam indicated that the center’s readiness for the season has been fully completed. He affirmed ongoing coordination and close follow-up with all relevant entities. The center also activated 14 media platforms to deliver weather information and alerts quickly, supporting public awareness and helping maintain high levels of security and safety for all visitors.
