Meta And Dubai Future Foundation Conclude Llama Design Drive With Innovative AI Solutions For UAE Industries
Thirty innovators, comprising 22 startups and eight AI professionals, showcased AI-driven solutions at the UAE's inaugural Llama Design Drive Demo Day. This exclusive event was hosted by the Dubai Future Foundation. Meta's AI accelerator programme, in collaboration with the Dubai Future Foundation and powered by Startupbootcamp, concluded with 19 teams demonstrating practical applications for major UAE companies like Emirates Airline and Chalhoub Group.
During the four-week initiative, startups and engineers received support from Meta to develop prototypes using Meta’s open-source large language model, Llama 3.2. They tackled seven challenges set by corporate partners. Each company outlined specific challenges for the cohort to address, highlighting AI's transformative potential across industries.

Emirates Airline aimed to ease travel anxiety for people with disabilities and seniors. Indigo Hive introduced "MyTravelGuide," a WhatsApp chatbot retrained on Llama to offer expert travel guidance for accessibility needs. Icom Innovation presented "Ike," an AI companion providing end-to-end accessibility support through real-time data verification and personalised guidance.
Transcend Technologies, a Dubai-based AI firm, developed "Chalhoub Analytics." This platform uses Llama 3 deep learning to analyse brand performance, offering actionable insights for luxury brands. Fitch Technologies tackled inventory management with "FocastIQ," a tool using predictive analytics to optimise stock levels.
CarbonSifr unveiled a multi-agent AI solution automating GHG emissions tracking by integrating local supply chain data with Llama AI for enhanced processing. Another participant created an AI chatbot simplifying mobility data for RTA analysts, improving transportation data access and decision-making efficiency.
Byanat developed a platform leveraging mobility data from various sources to enhance user interactions via an AI-driven chat. Oryx introduced "TransfeX," which utilises Llama's data processing capabilities to boost public transport efficiency by optimising route connections.
The Llama Design Drive Demo Day marked a significant milestone in the UAE’s AI sector. It highlighted the strategic importance of open-source AI in creating solutions with commercial and social impact. Abdulaziz AlJaziri of Dubai Future Foundation stated that their partnership with Meta aligns with efforts to enhance Dubai’s startup ecosystem.
Joulan Abdul Khalek from Meta remarked on the initiative's success: "This initiative illustrates the power of open-source AI to bring people together to solve complex challenges with innovation. The use cases presented today are truly impressive, demonstrating creativity, technical skill, and a deep understanding of industry needs."
