Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Launches Media Leadership Programme To Enhance Dubai's Global Media Profile

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, has introduced the Media Leadership Programme. This initiative aims to cultivate a new wave of media leaders in Dubai. It is part of a broader strategy by the Dubai Media Council to enhance the emirate's media sector.

The programme's primary goal is to elevate Dubai’s global media presence by nurturing leadership talent that can create innovative narratives. These stories will highlight Dubai’s achievements and ambitious development plans to audiences worldwide. The initiative aligns with Dubai's dedication to sustainable growth, equipping participants with skills to form effective teams and develop impactful media strategies.

Dubai's New Media Leadership Programme Launched

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed emphasised Dubai’s commitment to empowering its media sector through comprehensive support. This includes enhancing capabilities and expanding contributions to the emirate’s development journey. He highlighted the importance of partnerships with global institutions and academic organisations to leverage their expertise for achieving Dubai’s media sector goals.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, reiterated the Council’s dedication to advancing Dubai’s media sector through innovative initiatives. She noted that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's visionary leadership continues to guide Dubai’s progress, focusing on competitiveness as a core principle driving excellence.

The first cohort of the Media Leadership Programme includes communication professionals from various government entities in Dubai. The programme aims to enhance their leadership skills and expertise in strategic government communication, enabling them to engage effectively with both Arab and international media. Ultimately, it seeks to bolster Dubai’s global reputation and support government institutions' efforts.

The programme will cover topics aligned with Dubai's rapid growth as a future city while reflecting its economic and social objectives. The initial session will focus on government communication, showcasing global advancements and best practices. Participants will gain expertise needed for impactful government communication efforts.

Global Collaboration

Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, stated that "The first session of the Media Leadership Programme will bring together 24 participants representing 20 government and semi-government entities in Dubai." The programme features specialised sessions aimed at enhancing strategic thinking and leadership capabilities in government communication through lectures, practical training, and insights from global experts.

The programme collaborates with top universities like MIT, George Washington University, Columbia University, among others. Participants will learn from global best practices through international visits to countries excelling in this field. They will receive certifications from renowned universities.

Long-term Vision

This nine-month inaugural session is designed to refine leadership teams' skills in government communication. It ensures they can deliver accurate information about Dubai’s initiatives promptly. By showcasing successes across sectors, the programme aims to consolidate Dubai’s status as a global hub for business, sustainability, and innovation.
