Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital Partners With FAI Air Ambulance To Improve Emergency Care In UAE
Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital has entered a key partnership with FAI Aviation Services DMCC. This collaboration marks FAI's initial venture of this kind in the UAE. The agreement integrates air-to-ground emergency care. Barbara Baumgartner, Managing Director of FAI Aviation Services DMCC, and Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, signed the agreement in Dubai.
This partnership ensures that international patients in severe conditions receive care from both the aircraft's intensive care and a local medical team. Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital serves as the central point in this integrated emergency system. Patients will experience seamless care from the moment they arrive, transitioning smoothly from air to ground medical support.

With advanced infrastructure and dedicated trauma teams, Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital is well-equipped for urgent medical transfers. This partnership is expected to improve response times and patient safety, boosting the UAE's reputation for emergency and medical tourism services. Medcare’s round-the-clock readiness further enhances its capability in life-critical medical evacuations.
The hospital's advanced facilities include AI in diagnostics, oncology, and trauma care. Its emergency and orthopaedic departments are designed to manage trauma, offering timely care from initial assessment to complex surgeries. Medcare also provides follow-up care for international patients upon their return home.
Under this collaboration, Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital will supply ICU flight doctors and specialized medical teams for FAI’s international air ambulance missions. This agreement extends the hospital’s clinical expertise into air-medical settings. Both organizations will also work together on training and quality assurance programs to ensure continuous care from midair to hospital treatment.
Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres said, "We are proud to partner with FAI Air Ambulance to enhance our emergency response capabilities and ensure patients receive timely, lifesaving care. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to delivering the highest standard of medical service wherever and whenever our patients need it most. Along with FAI Air Ambulance, we are ensuring that quality, compassionate support is always within reach for those who need it most."
Barbara Baumgartner, Managing Director, FAI Aviation Services DMCC, stated, "We are pleased to sign this first-of-a-kind collaboration with MRSH, which strengthens FAI's link between air and ground medicine in the UAE. By partnering with Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital, FAI is utilising local medical talent who understands cultural and patient needs." The collaboration aims to provide a seamless healthcare experience, leveraging local expertise.
FAI has experienced positive outcomes from past collaborations, with some doctors having worked with FAI since 2008. Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital has already been supporting critical admissions for life-saving medevac missions. In one instance, a young American expat in the UAE was flown from Kyrgyzstan to Dubai for treatment after a car accident. Medcare provided her with excellent care, allowing her to leave the hospital six weeks later.
