Across the UAE, Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres is making strides in breast cancer awareness with the launch of their fourth annual campaign.This effort is aimed at promoting the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, the most common invasive cancer among women in the region.

This year's initiative is particularly notable for its expanded reach, thanks to new partnerships and improved accessibility, ensuring more women can obtain potentially life-saving screenings at reduced costs throughout October.

Medcare s Expanded Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative

The campaign provides a comprehensive screening package at a significantly discounted rate. This package includes a choice between a mammogram or breast ultrasound, along with a specialist consultation.

The aim is to make preventive care affordable and accessible, encouraging women to prioritize their health. In 2024, over 2,200 women were screened as part of this initiative, with 62% participating for the first time, underscoring the campaign's growing impact.

Medcare's initiative doesn't just operate within clinical settings. The organization has teamed up with notable entities such as Emirates Petroleum Company PJSC (Emarat), Krispy Kreme, AGMC Geely, and The Platform Studios to extend its reach.

These collaborations are designed to integrate breast cancer awareness into daily life, promoting education and screenings in places where women frequently visit. Special initiatives, including Pink October branded Geely cars and social media contests, further amplify the campaign's visibility.

Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, stated, "Breast cancer is the leading forms of cancer among women in the UAE, yet it is also one of the most treatable forms of cancer when detected early. Our screening initiative equips women with the knowledge, access, and assurance necessary to prioritize their health. She also highlighted the encouraging trend of 82% of women returning for follow-up consultations after their initial screenings in 2024.
