Saudi Arabia's MCIT And TONOMUS Unveil I.D.E.A. Initiative For Tech Advancement
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in collaboration with TONOMUS, a NEOM-born cognitive technology company, has unveiled The Immersive Digital Environments and Assets (I.D.E.A.) Initiative. This strategic move, first introduced during a keynote at LEAP 2024, aims to elevate Saudi Arabia's immersive technology sector to global prominence and support the Kingdom's digital economy goals within the framework of Vision 2030. The initiative seeks to foster a national network of partners encompassing policymakers, researchers, technology providers, and end-users to co-design ecosystem interventions.
MCIT and TONOMUS are setting the stage for a unified strategic plan and activation roadmap that involves both public and private sectors. This plan is dedicated to kickstarting the development of the immersive tech economy, crafting a comprehensive solution blueprint for national immersive tech advancements, and establishing standards to bring together various technology stakeholders. Over 15 potential partners have already joined the initiative, demonstrating a strong commitment across Saudi Arabia’s technological landscape.
