MBRSG, APCO Forge Partnership To Advance GenAI In Government Communications
In a significant move towards enhancing government communications and leadership skills within the UAE, the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has partnered with APCO, a global advisory and advocacy firm. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aims to leverage generative AI (GenAI) and other advanced technologies to bolster the capabilities of leaders and managers in the government sector.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, and Mamoon Sbeih, President of APCO in the Middle East and North Africa. The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Arthur King, Acting Dean and Director of Academic Affairs at MBRSG. This partnership underscores MBRSG's dedication to capacity building and its commitment to supporting the UAE's development journey by enhancing the proficiency of public sector employees.
Under this agreement, MBRSG and APCO will develop education and training programs specifically designed to improve communication skills among government sector leaders and managers. These programs will incorporate the use of GenAI and other cutting-edge technologies in research and practical applications within government communications.
Dr. Al Marri highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating that it reflects MBRSG's commitment to strengthening government work through capacity building. He emphasized the school's focus on partnering with prestigious international institutions to exchange knowledge and expertise, thereby enriching the knowledge base of government personnel.
The collaboration extends to APCO Institute, APCO's training arm known for its specialization in strategic communications capabilities. The institute will offer training courses covering a wide array of critical areas including strategic planning, government communication, crisis management, internal communication management, and change management.
These courses are designed to equip leaders and spokespersons with the necessary skills to effectively engage with international media, manage reputations (both individual and institutional), and oversee the building, operation, and transfer of ownership systems in government communication departments. This initiative is set to significantly enhance the communication landscape within the UAE's government sector by providing professionals with access to tools, knowledge, exposure, and international best practices in media communications.
This partnership between MBRSG and APCO marks a pivotal step towards advancing the UAE's leadership excellence on both regional and global stages. By focusing on the latest techniques and technologies in communication, this collaboration aims to empower public sector employees to effectively address challenges and contribute more significantly to the nation's development journey.
