MBRSC And ESGRS Launch Comprehensive Training Programme In GIS And Remote Sensing
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the Emirati Society of GIS and Remote Sensing (ESGRS) have introduced a new training programme. This initiative focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, aiming to enhance national expertise in geospatial technologies. Participants will gain technical knowledge and practical skills to apply satellite data and GIS tools to real-world problems.
The programme is available to government professionals, private sector specialists, academics, and students. It will be held at MBRSC headquarters in Dubai and at participants' locations. The curriculum caters to all proficiency levels, combining theoretical learning with practical training, guided labs, case studies, and interactive sessions.

The training is structured into three levels: Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced. The Foundation Level covers GIS and Remote Sensing basics like map interpretation and satellite data types. The Intermediate Level delves into spatial analysis, data classification, and software applications such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
At the Advanced Level, participants explore high-level applications including artificial intelligence in remote sensing, advanced spatial modelling, change detection, and digital twin integration. This comprehensive approach ensures that participants are well-equipped to handle complex geospatial challenges.
In addition to the core curriculum, the programme offers customised workshops and specialised tracks. These are tailored to meet the specific needs of sectors like agriculture, climate monitoring, disaster management, smart cities, scientific research, and education. This ensures that the training remains relevant to both national priorities and industry demands.
Dr. Saeed Al Mansoori from MBRSC highlighted the growing importance of geospatial technologies across various industries such as urban development and disaster management. He stated that this programme empowers professionals and students to transform data into actionable insights.
Assessments are integrated into the programme to ensure strong knowledge retention. Participants will gain skills, confidence, and competence necessary for immediate impact in their respective fields.
This initiative aligns with the national vision of enhancing scientific capacity while utilising space technologies for humanity's benefit. By offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, it prepares participants to address real-world challenges effectively.
