MBRF To Showcase Initiatives And Foster Knowledge Exchange At Frankfurt Book Fair 2025
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) is set to participate in the Frankfurt International Book Fair 2025. This event, a significant gathering in the publishing world, will take place from 15 to 19 October 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany. MBRF plans to present a diverse program of intellectual and literary sessions, showcasing its initiatives and highlighting Dubai's role as a global knowledge hub.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, expressed enthusiasm about the participation. He stated, "We are pleased to participate in the annual Frankfurt International Book Fair, which serves as a unique global platform that unites major publishers, intellectuals, and knowledge organisations worldwide. This prestigious event offers an opportunity to highlight our key achievements and flagship initiatives, and strengthen our strategic partnerships that support the development of sustainable knowledge societies. Our presence at the event further reflects Dubai’s continued commitment to reinforcing its position as a hub for knowledge and a global destination for literature and intellectual innovation."

MBRF aims to enhance cross-cultural knowledge exchange between East and West through its participation. The foundation seeks to emphasise the UAE's growing role in the creative economy. By doing so, it hopes to affirm its position as a vibrant platform for dialogue among publishers, authors, and thought leaders globally.
As part of its agenda at the fair, MBRF will engage with several international publishing houses like Sage Publishing and Innovative Publishing. These meetings aim to explore collaboration opportunities in academic publishing and digital content exchange. Such discussions are crucial for fostering partnerships that support sustainable knowledge societies.
A notable session titled ‘Emirati Literature: Between Memory and Renewal’ will feature Emirati authors Eman Al Yousuf and Nadia Al Najjar. Moderated by writer Roula Farah, this session will delve into the evolution of local literature while aligning with global literary trends. It highlights how Emirati literature is adapting within the broader literary movement.
The Digital Knowledge Hub (DKH), an Arab knowledge platform developed by MBRF, will also play a significant role at the fair. It will host discussions with entities like the Academic Publishing Association and Emerald Publishing on topics such as open access and publishing ethics. These discussions aim to link specialised studies on knowledge economy and innovation with MBRF’s projects like the Global Knowledge Index (GKI).
Exploring Translation Challenges
A session titled ‘I Translate’ will bring together leading translators to discuss challenges in translating works across cultures. This discussion is vital for understanding how literary and intellectual works can be effectively translated while preserving their essence across different languages.
The program will also include seminars under the ongoing ‘KnowTalks’ series. Researcher Stefan Bergheim will lead a seminar on ‘The Competence of Futures Literacy,’ while Dr. Gunjan Bhardwaj will discuss ‘Transforming Life Sciences with AI.’ These seminars aim to provide insights into future literacy competencies and AI's impact on life sciences.
MBRF's participation in this prestigious book fair underscores its commitment to promoting Dubai as a centre for knowledge creation. By engaging with global publishers and thought leaders, MBRF continues to strengthen its role in shaping sustainable knowledge societies worldwide.
