Mawani Adds CBS Shipping Service To Jeddah Port, Strengthening Saudi-China Links

The Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, has introduced a new shipping service called "CBS" at Jeddah Islamic Port through the Chinese shipping line "NewNew Line." This move aims to boost the Kingdom's ranking on the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index and improve port efficiency. It also seeks to enhance Saudi Arabia's global market connections.

The initiative aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) goals. It aims to strengthen the Kingdom's role as a global logistics hub connecting three continents. The new service will support national exports and imports, contributing to these strategic objectives.

The CBS service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with several key ports in China, including Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Additionally, it links to Damietta in Egypt. The service operates weekly trips with a capacity of up to 4,000 TEUs.

This addition marks the 14th service introduced by Mawani in collaboration with major global shipping lines since early 2024. It underscores Mawani's commitment to expanding its network and improving logistics services.

Jeddah Islamic Port is a crucial logistical and commercial centre on the Red Sea coast. Spanning 12.5 square kilometres, it features 62 berths and several specialised terminals equipped with advanced technology.

The port includes two container handling terminals and an integrated area serving as a logistics village for warehousing and re-export. There are also two general cargo terminals and docks for ship repair and marine unit maintenance.

Comprehensive Facilities for Various Needs

In addition to its cargo handling capabilities, Jeddah Islamic Port offers a range of marine services such as towing and maritime guidance. It also has fully equipped halls designed to accommodate pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors.

Mawani's efforts reflect its dedication to enhancing operational efficiency at ports across Saudi Arabia. By introducing new services like CBS, Mawani aims to solidify the Kingdom's position in global trade and logistics.

This strategic move not only supports national economic growth but also aligns with broader goals of positioning Saudi Arabia as a leading logistics hub globally.
