Mawani And Arabian Chemical Terminals Sign Lease To Expand Jubail Port Chemical Storage
The Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, has agreed a new contract with Arabian Chemical Terminals Ltd. to build large chemical storage facilities at Jubail Commercial Port. The project, worth more than SAR500 million, is designed to expand export capacity and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s logistics position.
Under the agreement, storage tanks for chemical and petrochemical materials will be constructed on a 49,000 square metre site inside Jubail Commercial Port. The planned storage capacity of the new terminal will reach 70,000 cubic tons, targeting both regional and global trade flows.

Mawani states that the investment will raise operational efficiency at Jubail Commercial Port and increase overall cargo handling capacity. The new terminal is expected to improve the performance of the Kingdom’s ports network, adding support for traders seeking reliable chemical logistics services in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
The project is aligned with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to make Saudi Arabia a central global logistics hub. By expanding storage and export options for chemical and petrochemical products, the initiative supports this national plan and contributes to the country’s broader economic goals.
| Project element | Detail |

Mawani notes that the step forms part of wider efforts to increase private sector participation in port activities and support Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product. Enhancing the role of Jubail Commercial Port is seen as important for stimulating commercial activity in the Eastern Province and across the Kingdom.
The development includes specialised facilities dedicated to storing and exporting chemical and petrochemical materials. It will also provide storage and distribution services that cover local and international import and export operations for chemicals, following global quality and safety standards and using systems designed to protect supply chain reliability.
According to Mawani, the terminal will help strengthen national supply chains and improve the Kingdom’s chemical logistics capabilities. Higher operational efficiency and greater capacity at Jubail Commercial Port are expected to support customer competitiveness and attract more industrial and energy-related cargo through Saudi ports.
The project supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by backing infrastructure development for the energy, industry, and supply chain sectors. By expanding port facilities at Jubail Commercial Port and increasing private investment, the initiative contributes to long-term plans for economic diversification and stronger integration with global trade networks.
