Mashaer Train Reaches Full Operational Readiness For Hajj 1446 AH Pilgrimage Season
The Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has declared the Mashaer Metro Train fully ready for the 1446 AH Hajj season. Starting on Dhul Al-Hijjah 7, this readiness aligns with the Kingdom's aim to improve transport and service quality for pilgrims. SAR coordinated with security and service entities to ensure smooth operations.
Nearly 12,000 trial trips have been conducted since January to prepare for this season. Additionally, four full-scale simulations were carried out to replicate Hajj conditions. These exercises tested the systems, trains, and stations for safe and efficient operations.

The Mashaer Metro Train is designed with five distinct service patterns tailored to different Hajj rituals. This makes it a unique transport system worldwide. During the Hajj season, it will conduct over 2,000 trips, aiming to transport more than two million passengers efficiently.
SAR has also undertaken extensive maintenance and rigorous testing of all facilities and stations. This ensures they meet safety and quality standards. The train connects nine stations across Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina. The final station in Mina is located on the fourth level of the Jamarat Bridge.
The Mashaer Metro Train stands out as a significant sustainable transport project in the region. It operates 17 trains, each capable of carrying 3,000 passengers. This results in a total capacity exceeding 72,000 passengers per hour.
This initiative helps reduce congestion at holy sites and lowers carbon emissions. It offers a smart, safe, and environmentally friendly travel experience for pilgrims.
The operation of the train reflects SAR’s dedication to Saudi Vision 2030 by providing reliable and sustainable transport for pilgrims. It showcases the Kingdom’s advanced infrastructure while enhancing service quality.
Operation and maintenance responsibilities were assigned to SAR by Cabinet Resolution No. (538) dated 16/9/1440H. This decision aims to boost operational efficiency during the Hajj season.
