Masdar Invests AED 30 Billion In Renewable Energy Projects Across Nine Countries In 2024

Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, has solidified its position in the global clean energy sector. It has invested nearly AED30 billion in equity and secured over AED16.5 billion in project financing across nine nations. These efforts highlight Masdar's dedication to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and advancing the global energy transition.

Since its inception in 2006, Masdar has been pivotal in supporting the UAE's vision of becoming a leader in sustainability and climate action. The company has engaged in projects across more than 40 countries. It aims to boost its renewable energy capacity to 100GW by 2030.

Masdar's AED 30 Billion Investment in Renewables

Masdar is committed to accelerating development and aiding the UAE's goal of being the largest developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy and green hydrogen. It also supports global climate neutrality plans while aiming to increase its project portfolio's production capacity to 51GW by the end of 2024.

The company's growth was propelled by significant acquisitions in Greece, Spain, and the United States. This expansion strengthened Masdar’s presence in Europe and North America. Additionally, it initiated seven major projects worldwide, including two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the UK.

In Azerbaijan, Masdar launched two solar projects with a combined capacity of 760MW. In the UAE, it embarked on the 1.5GW Al Ajban Solar Project. These initiatives are part of Masdar's strategy to enhance its renewable energy footprint globally.

Key Developments in Saudi Arabia

Masdar announced financial closure for six projects, including the 1.1GW Al Henakiyah Solar Power Plant and the multi-utility AMAALA sustainable project in Saudi Arabia. The company also signed a Power Purchase Agreement for the 2GW Sadawi project scheduled for December 2024.

The inauguration of the 500MW Zarafshan Wind Farm in Uzbekistan marked another milestone for Masdar. This facility is now Central Asia's largest wind operation, showcasing Masdar's commitment to expanding clean energy solutions worldwide.

Through these strategic initiatives and investments, Masdar continues to play a crucial role in driving sustainable energy solutions globally while supporting various countries' climate goals.
