Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar, a leading force in the UAE's clean energy sector, is set to host the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) from 16th to 18th April at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Recognized as the premier global event for future energy, clean technology, and sustainability, WFES will feature a comprehensive programme including events, discussions, and forums aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration in the clean energy sphere.
The Masdar Pavilion at WFES will serve as a central point for innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. It will host an engaging array of panels and presentations, spotlighting Masdar’s global strategic initiatives such as Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) and Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER). Additionally, the Innovation Zone by Masdar will present industry panels with leading innovators and experts focusing on cutting-edge climate solutions. This zone will showcase technology from ADSW partners, international startups, and SMEs across various sectors including urban mobility, clean energy, agritech, and artificial intelligence. The SME Day at WFES, set for 18th April, aims to extend the COP28 SME Climate Hub initiative's legacy.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of Masdar and COP28 President, emphasized the importance of transitioning agreements into actionable steps to combat climate change. He highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence in this journey and urged the energy industry to leverage AI for climate action. Dr. Al Jaber's remarks underscored WFES as a pivotal platform for stakeholders across governments, industries, and policy-making to contribute towards achieving the energy transition required to meet the goals of the UAE Consensus and maintain global temperature rise within 1.5 °C.
Masdar also announced its plans to host the annual Green Hydrogen Summit on April 16th during WFES. The summit aims to expedite the development of the global green hydrogen economy as a means to support the energy transition. It will convene policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to discuss green hydrogen's potential in aiding economies to achieve net-zero emissions.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Masdar’s Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about hosting WFES. He highlighted Masdar's commitment to addressing global climate challenges through innovative solutions showcased at the summit. Al Ramahi also reiterated Masdar's goal to reach a renewable energy portfolio capacity of 100GW by 2030. This ambition aligns with The UAE Consensus's target to triple global renewables capacity by the decade's end and positions Masdar as a frontrunner in green hydrogen production by 2030.
WFES stands as a testament to Masdar's dedication towards advancing clean energy solutions and supporting sustainable development goals. Through its comprehensive programme and strategic initiatives, WFES aims not only to showcase innovations but also to catalyze actionable climate commitments from global stakeholders.
