Marvels Of Saudi Orchestra Concert In London Features 100 Musicians And Cultural Exchange

The "Marvels of Saudi Orchestra" concert recently concluded its fourth performance at Central Hall Westminster in London. This event was under the patronage of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Music Commission. The concert featured 100 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir, attracting dignitaries, officials, businessmen, and media figures.

In his opening remarks, Paul Pacifico, CEO of the Music Commission, highlighted the success of previous concerts in global capitals. He credited these achievements to Prince Badr's support. Pacifico praised the concert as an initiative to share Saudi musical heritage worldwide through international participation by skilled Saudi artists.

Saudi Orchestra Concert Enchants London Audience

The concert began with a tribute to the late poet Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen for his cultural contributions. The Saudi National Orchestra and Choir performed "Ana Min Hal Ard" ("I Am from This Land"), a song written by the late poet and performed by Mohammed Abdu with music composed by Abdulrab Idris.

To further promote Saudi arts globally, the Theater and Performing Arts Commission presented three traditional artistic works accompanied by famous Saudi songs. These performances included Samri art with Mohammed Abdu's "Esmaheely Yal Gharam," Yanbu art through "Hanna Talabna Allah," and Rabash art with "Saudiyeen."

The first segment concluded with a unique rendition of Adele’s "Rolling in the Deep" by the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir. The second segment featured a performance by the British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and RSVP Voices, led by conductor Benjamin Pope and opera singer Dame Sarah Connolly. They opened with William Walton's "Crown Imperial."

The concert ended with a collaborative performance blending music from both cultures. The Saudi orchestra joined forces with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Saudi maestro Hani Farhat's direction. This segment included compositions by Mohammed Ashi and Rami Basahih.

Global Cultural Exchange

This London concert marked the fourth stop in a series that previously visited Paris, Mexico City, and New York. The series aims to introduce Saudi music's splendors while fostering international cultural exchange, aligning with the Music Commission's goals.

The Music Commission remains committed to elevating Saudi music on a global stage. By sharing its rich musical heritage internationally, it seeks to enhance cultural exchange and understanding among people worldwide.
